Gerry McDonagh has left Nottingham Forest for a third loan spell, joining Tranmere Rovers on a month-long youth loan.
The powerful forward, 19, has previously had successful spells with both Cambridge and Wrexham last season – and is now heading to Prenton Park in order to secure more first team experience.
McDonagh, who has represented the Republic of Ireland at under-17 level, made five starts and eight sub appearances for Cambridge in League Two in the second half of last season, scoring a solitary goal in a 1-1 draw with Colchester.
He had spent the first half of the campaign on loan in north Wales, where he had a more fruitful spell with Wrexham, scoring five goals in 15 starts and seven sub appearances.
And he has now returned to Conference level to help bolster Tranmere’s hopes of securing a return to the Football League.
Micky Mellon’s side have seen wins over Bromley and Leyton Orient lift them back towards the right end of a congested table.
