Gateshead have announced that Nick Cassidy, Jack Elliott and Shaun MacDonald have all been offered an additional year on their contracts at the International Stadium.
The trio were all members of the Heed’s U19 side last term, Elliott and MacDonald having also been registered for first-team duties.
The latter caught the eye during a narrow pre-season friendly defeat to Newcastle United last summer, and went on to make his competitive debut against Worcester City in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
MacDonald made four appearances at first-team level all told, the last coming in December’s 5-1 loss to Woking at the International Stadium.
Elliott, meanwhile, took in a brief loan spell at Whitby Town in the second-half of the campaign after impressing for Micky Cummins’ U19s.
Elliott also made a number of appearances for the Heed’s reserve side, along with the versatile Cassidy.
A former Queen of the South trainee, Cassidy was a virtual ever-present for the young Tynesiders last term, and also netted in the second-string’s 2-0 win over Grimsby Town at the International Stadium in November.
Of the remaining members of last season’s U19 squad, those who have come to the end of their time at Gateshead College will move elsewhere for the new campaign.
They include winger Joe Hailes, who agreed first-team terms with the Tynesiders under previous manager Malcolm Crosby a year ago.
Hailes did not feature for the club at senior level, however, and has agreed a switch to Northern League Division One side Dunston UTS.
Forward Mechack Kanda – who made his first-team debut in a 1-1 Vanarama National League draw at Woking in April – has also left the club.
